About

Who are the CampGeeks? You came to the right place, because you are about to find out. CampGeeks.com is a website from the minds of two high school best-friends who have been camping, hiking, biking, backpacking, unicycling, canoeing, orienteering, and just in general loving the outdoors together for over a decade. Between the two of us, we cover the majority of outdoor activities and sports to a wide degree. So who are we? I think it’s time you found out…

Brian L. Schuster

Born and raised in Dubuque, IA, Brian is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, mountain biking, mountain unicycling, backpacking, rock climbing, camping and most other outdoor activities. While attending Iowa State University (2000-2004), Brian was heavily involved with the ISU Mountaineering and Climbing Club as well as the ISU Unicycle Club and held official positions with each.

After college, along with fellow ISU school mate George Barnes IV, Brian was the first of 2 unicyclists to attempt and successfully complete the Little Su 50k Race on Alaska’s famous Iditarod Trail while riding a Mountain Unicycle. With multiple sponsors, this event was a unique experience for both of them and has yet to be repeated.

While enjoying the outdoors in his personal time, Brian also has worked outdoors even since graduating. With a degree in Forestry with an emphasis on Forest Ecosystem Management, Brian went to work for the USDA Forest Service in Granby, CO. After 4 years of hiking, snowshoeing and other rigerous mountain avtivities on the job, Brian moved back to Iowa to be closer to family.

Now back in Iowa, Brian worked closly with his father to start a family construction business, EverGreen Construction, LLC (http://buildevergreen.com). Now with two children, Brian focuses his attention to his family and business, although his passion for many outdoor activities remain.

Leaning close to 30, Brian has began pusing himself back into the extreme outdoor sports that he has loved since childhood. While family is still his first priority, he wants to get his daughters into the same outdoor activities that has brought him to this point today.

Phillip R. Wagner

Born and raised in Dubuque, IA, Phillip has always been experienced in various outdoor activites. To name a few, Phillip enjoys mountain biking, backpacking, hiking, camping and canoeing. While attending Loras College in Dubuque, IA, Phillip was heavily involved with the Judo Club, all while working at The Bike Shack (http://thebikeshack.com).

After college, Phillip continued working on his commitment to the bicycle industry and further involved himself at The Bike Shack. With mountain biking close to his heart, Phillip emersed himself in all things biking and at one time had a total of 7 bicycles. His knowledge of the bicycle industry continues to grow everyday, and it doesn’t look to be letting up any time soon.

While still a full time employee at The Bike Shack, Phillip and his wife Amy came across an opportunity to start a small business of their own and have the enjoyment of working with each other. It was at this juncture that Wagner Enterprises was born, and both Phillip & Amy have committed most of their free time outside of the regular jobs to their business. From the creation of this business, Phillip and Amy have both traveled across this great nation of our and connected with many people along the way.

Now we come to today, and while still as busy as ever, Phillip has committed himself to more outdoor activites. Biking to work more often than ever, Phillip has started down a road he eventually plans will allow him to bike to a fairly local state park and back, all while carrying all his equipment on a BOB trailer.
